El Presidente Cocktail is Cuban cocktail created by the American bartender Eddie Woelke in honor of the Cuban president Gerardo Machado. Machado was the governor of Cuba during the Prohibition in the United States.
This cocktail was very popular between Havana’s high social class and American tourists who visited the island between the 1920s and 1940s.
